A preschool nature and science table prepared for hands-on investigation

Preschool for curious, active learners

Tender Years offers preschool childcare in Ajax for children aged 2.5 to 4 years. Children explore early language, literacy, numeracy and science through play, with educators responding to their interests and questions.

A story can lead to pretend play. Building can open a conversation about size and balance. Drawing gives children a way to share an idea before they can write it. These experiences make learning part of an ordinary childcare day.

What a preschool day includes

The day makes room for hands-on activities, art, storytelling, movement and interactive games. Meals, snacks, rest and outdoor play provide a familiar rhythm. Speak with the team about your child's rest needs, food requirements and the current classroom routine.

Programming is guided by Ontario's How Does Learning Happen?. Its foundations of belonging, well-being, engagement and expression help educators think about how children experience the day.

Everyday skills for the move to kindergarten

Children have opportunities to practise asking for help, joining play, managing belongings and working through disagreements with support. Drawing, painting, stories and games introduce early mark-making, letters, sounds and number ideas.

Children practise at an individual pace, and families can share questions about the transition with educators. Explore our guide to play-based learning for more examples of learning in everyday activities.

Hours, fees and a preschool visit

Our centre is at 338 Rossland Rd E, Ajax, with regular hours Monday to Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Confirm your child's schedule and closure dates with us. Tender Years participates in CWELCC; the centre can explain current preschool fees, inclusions and eligibility.

Call (905) 683-2559 to discuss your child's age, preferred start date and a visit, or send us an enquiry; a request does not guarantee enrolment. Families planning for school can also ask about before and after school care.

Our preschool program is for ages 2.5 to 4 years. If your child is close to an age-group transition, contact the centre to discuss the appropriate room and available space.

Is this a kindergarten class?

This is a preschool childcare program. Early literacy, numeracy and self-help skills are explored through age-appropriate play. Your child's school or school board can explain kindergarten registration and school entry requirements.

Tell educators about your child's usual sleep and rest needs. Ask how the current preschool routine provides rest and quiet activities for children who do not sleep.

Educators share activities, observations and messages through Lillio, our parent app, and in conversation with you. You can also discuss changes at home, current interests and questions about the move to school.
