Tender Years is a licensed childcare centre on Rossland Road East in Ajax, caring for children from infancy through age 12. Our rooms are led by Registered Early Childhood Educators and qualified Early Childhood Assistants who plan alongside “How Does Learning Happen”, Ontario’s pedagogy for the early years.

We are open 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Meals are cooked on site each day, children have two oversized playgrounds to move around in, and families follow the day through the Lillio app.

Roles At The Centre

The positions we
hire for at Tender Years

Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE)

Lead a room alongside a teaching partner: plan play-based experiences, observe and document learning, and keep families up to date through the Lillio app. Registration in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators is required, along with a current Vulnerable Sector Check, standard first aid with infant and child CPR, and up-to-date immunisation records.

Early Childhood Assistant

Support an RECE through the daily rhythm of the room: setting up learning areas, joining children in play, and helping with meals, rest and outdoor time. Suited to candidates working towards an ECE credential or with experience in a licensed centre. A current Vulnerable Sector Check, standard first aid with infant and child CPR, and up-to-date immunisation records are required.

Supply and casual educators

Cover planned and short-notice absences across the infant, toddler, preschool and school-age rooms. Supply work is a good way to get to know the centre, and it is often how our full-time educators start. Days can be arranged around study or other commitments.

Cook and kitchen support

Prepare the morning snack, hot lunch and afternoon snack served at the centre each day, working to the posted menu and to allergy and dietary requirements. Food Handler certification and experience cooking for groups are an asset.

Placement students and volunteers

We host field placements for students in Early Childhood Education programs. Tell us your school, your placement dates and the age group you are hoping to work with, and we will let you know what we can offer for that term.
