Childcare waitlists in Ajax: a practical guide for parents

Finding childcare in Ajax can take time. Demand for licensed care has risen since CWELCC reduced fees for eligible families, and staffing has been a widely reported constraint across the sector, which limits how many spaces a centre can offer.

Each childcare operator manages its own waitlist. At Tender Years, families can join by sharing their child's age, preferred start date and schedule. Requests are generally considered first-come, first-served and remain subject to availability, with priority for siblings already enrolled and children moving into the next age group.

Give the centre enough detail to match your request to the right room. A birth date, ideal start date, full-time or part-time need, and fixed weekdays make the first conversation more useful. If your plans change, update the centre so the information on file stays current.

Ask about the practical details at the same time: current fees, CWELCC, meals, hours, transition visits and what your child will need to bring. Ontario's parent guide also recommends asking about licensing, health and safety, communication, staffing and how children are released at pickup.

Tender Years participates in CWELCC, but a fee reduction does not guarantee that a space is open. The centre can confirm the fee for your child's program and explain what happens after you submit a waitlist enquiry.

You do not need a polished application. Start with the facts your family knows now, ask direct questions and keep the conversation open while you plan for care.
